DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

      The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established during the academic year 1986-87. It is developing as a centre for excellence, imparting quality education and generating competent technical manpower in Electronics and Communication field with a high degree of credibility, integrity and ethical standards. The Department possesses excellent faculty as well as facilities to train the students for industrial requirements. The Department organizes various training programmes for the students and society. The Department conducts various seminars on recent emerging fields to enrich the knowledge of the students. Various personality development programmes are conducted for creating awareness among the students by eminent personalities. The Department is well known for its discipline and commitment to the overall development of the students and grooming them as good technicians. The Department has been accredited for three years by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.


To be a Department of Excellence in Electronics and Communication Engineering and training individuals focusing on the needs of the Nation and Society in tune with Technological Developments.


• MISSION 1 ( M1 ) : To elevate Electronics and Communication Engineering students to the need of social, economical and technical developments.

• MISSION 2 ( M2 ) : To train technocrats to value humanity.

• MISSION 3 ( M3 ) : Up to date technology on industrial needs to be motivated.


N1 Scheme is followed for present II and III year Students.


Under autonomy the academic programmes are designed and updated by a board of studies once in three years at department level and academic Board at state level. The curriculum is devised with an objective to enrich the knowledge of the students and particularly practical application of the knowledge so gained. The curriculum is implemented after getting approval from the Academic Board and final approval from the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai.

1 Curriculum DETAILS SHOW

The Board of studies propose new courses, Curricula and Syllabi. It also proposes modification and changes or repeat of existing ones. The Board of studies recommends panels of Internal and External examines to the academic council. It advises the Academic council on all academic matters. The Board of studies meeting may be scheduled as and when necessary but necessarily once a term (or) twice a year. The members nominated for the Board of studies shall be 2 years.

The Department has a separate Library facility with 274 technical books and a collection of CD’s. Apart from this, central library of our institution has very good collection of technical and general volumes. This is upgraded by the addition of latest books every year. Further the library subscribes technical and popular journals.

The students have to do a project work as part of the curriculum. In order to encourage students to do worthwhile and innovative projects, every year prizes are awarded for the best three projects in Institution wise, region wise and state wise. The selection of project work should be taken up in V term of study and will be reviewed twice during 4th and 10th week of VI term of study.
